Transition Program: Short-Term Home Education Program with Space Held to Transition Back to School (SD48 Only)

Welcome to the SD48 Transition Program Registration page. By registering for this option it means that that you would prefer to have your child remain enrolled in your local school, and connected to your school by being placed in a Learning Group cohort and their online platform (google classroom), but also temporarily remain at home with the educational program provided online by a Sea to Sky Online teacher, until you choose to either:

     a) return your child to in-class instruction; or,
     b) choose to remain on line with SSO.

Students are supervised at home by their parent or guardian and the education program is developed, supported, and provided online by a Sea to Sky Online teacher through a minimum of:
  • regular contact (Google classroom, email, etc.);
  • weekly face to face contact online; and,
  • monthly in person meetings in your community.

Each family choosing this option will be asked to make a final decision on their child’s placement in either item a) or b) above by October 30, 2020. Then on November 12, 2020 the student will either return to their Learning Group cohort at their school or remain with their Sea to Sky Online teacher for the remainder of the school year. If the choice is to remain with Sea to Sky Online (b from above), the student’s seat at their local school will no longer be held. The student may always return to their school later in the school year contingent upon the availability of space.

Please note that French Immersion students may choose this option and also have their seat held in French Immersion. Though the online learning instruction will not likely be in French, some of the learning resources available may be.
