Physical Geography 12

 

Course Outline:

Physical Geography 12 is a course that explores geographical processes from a regional and global scale. It addresses both physical and human systems of the geographic world through the study of people, places and the environment. The course is designed to teach geographical literacy so that students may make informed decisions about their actions and the sustainability of delicate earth systems under the pressure of an ever increasing world population. The course is self paced, with lessons delivered via unit booklets. Student learning is demonstrated through Unit Assignments, Practice Quizzes, Unit Tests and a Final Exam, graded by the course teacher. Test and Exam writing are supervised by an online support teacher. Face to face support is available during an online support block or at a connect session. Students have one year to complete the course.

Assignments:

Assignments are to be submitted as you work through the related lesson topics. Please be sure to read and follow directions as outlined for each assignment, to receive full credit for your work. All submissions MUST be very neat and well organized.  

It is assumed that you will do all the required assignments. Success on the exams depends upon exposure to a large variety of questions and lots of practice.

 

Exam Supervision: 

All tests and exams are “closed book” and require supervision. Please arrange with a teacher from the Sea to Sky Online School to write your tests as needed.

 

Resources: 

There is NO textbook required for this course. You will need a computer with internet access and headphones/speakers. You will also need a scientific calculator and ruler.

 

Keys to Success: 

  1. Set a schedule so that you are working on the course either everyday or every second day. There should be no big gaps, with the hope of catching up. This is VERY important!
  2. Actively work through each lesson, trying examples and reflecting on material.
  3. Use the Unit Assignments as your tool for documenting your understanding. Lay it out neatly and well organized.
  4. Make sure you understand any test question you get wrong. If you can’t figure it out – ASK for help!
  5. Be sure to use your Moodle message system for regular communication with your instructor.
