Workplace Math 11

 

Course Outline:

Workplace Math 11 is a practical math course that meets the graduation requirements for Grade 11 math in the BC Education Curriculum. Workplace Math 11 is fully online. The Unit assignments needed to be self marked with either a study block teacher or at a connect session. Face to face support is available. The course is self paced and students have 1 year to complete the course.

Unit 1 - Review - Fractions

Unit 2 - Measurement

Unit 3 - Geometry

Unit 4 - Trigonometry

Unit 5 - Graphing and Tables

Unit 6 - Data Analysis

Unit 7 - Finances


Course Grading: 

Learning Guides - 20%

Projects and/or Unit Tests - 30%

Unit Quizzes - 30%

Final Exam - 30%

 

Exam Supervision: 

All exams are “closed book” and require supervision. Please arrange with a teacher from the Sea to Sky Online School to write your tests as needed.

 

Resources: 

There is NO textbook required for this course. You do need a basic scientific calculator. 

 

Keys to Success: 

  1. Set a schedule so that you are working on math either every day or every second day. There should be no big gaps, with the hope of catching up. This is VERY important! 
  2. Actively work through each lesson, trying examples and reflecting on material. 
  3. Use the Learning Guide as your tool for documenting your understanding. Lay it out neatly and well organized. 
  4. Make sure you understand any test question you get wrong. If you can’t figure it out – ASK for help! 
  5. Be sure to use your Moodle message system for regular communication with your instructor.
